Good Hair cut and conversation at a good price
Friendly good traditional barber
Very good barbers
When I first walked in, this barber shop seemed very pleasant and looked professional, I was only going for a wet shave, so didnt I was taking any risks with my hair.Ive been having regular wet shaves for over 20yrs, so I pretty much know how they are done, so not long after sitting in the chair did it become apparent to me that this barber was either a) In a major rush.... or b) Just isnt competent in wet shaves. It started out well, the hot towels were applied and then a shaving cream which was massaged into the stubble, but he then applied cold water with a shaving brush to spread it around, followed by some warm water, which did nothing but tighten my skin and the stubble, so when he used the razor, it pretty much felt like he was removing a few layers of skin.He went over and over and I could tell he was panicking because he kept applying a cold wet flannel to my face to stop the bleeding, whilst at the same time saying this is a close shave, which was really his way of saying OMG, what am I doing to this mans face. After what I can only say as scraping my face for 10mins, he then used the lemon after shave, spraying it directly on to my open cuts that were bleeding heavily, this was extremely uncomfortable and made me want to jump out of the chair.Panicking to stop the blood, he then applied a Cream and then more wet flannels, he also asked if this was my first wet shave and told me I have very sensitive skin, basically covering up his poor barbering skills. It cost me 13:50 for this awful experience and I left feeling extremely disappointed, I did call back about 20mins later, but the barber had left for the day, so nothing could be done. For the rest of the day and night my face continued to bleed and it was extremely uncomfortable, its a good job I wasnt attending a wedding or going on a night out because I would have looked a mess.I called back in the following day and I caught the barber whilst no customers were in. I have no complaints about the guys personality or friendliness and the other barbers in this establishment were all doing a fine job, but my personal experience has really left me feeling like I never want another so called professional wet shave again. It turns out the barber that did the shave is actually the owner, he quickly refunded me and again tried to blame it on the Italian products he used, then on my skin type, even though every other barber I have ever visited have done a good job, this guy didnt even remove the stubble properly, just layers of skin! So, if you are either a visitor (as I am) or a local, just be very, very careful, because I cant shave for at least 10 days now as advised by a local chemist.I have plenty of photographs if you want to see them, feel free to messsage me directly.I will be sharing this story on social media too.
I have been using The Original Barber Shop for almost 3 years and I just cannot fault it one bit! The owner Paul has always been very polite and chatty to me, being a fellow businessman we always have much to discuss. The ladies are very pleasant too and they all listen to how you want your hair cut and just get on with it to a very high standard, no fuss. Overall, very pleasant barbers, great price, would not hesitate to recommend you visit here for a great hair cut.
