My bike was damaged when I fell over unclipped on a steep hill on a Dartmoor back road when cycling on a long 2 day group ride. As I was unable to change into lower gears I had to get transported to the nearest bike shop in Tavistock in order to get back on the road. The shop owners saw at once what was wrong and were happy to look at it immediately. The damage was sorted in no time plus a few other quick adjustments were made to my bike set up including Di2. I was only charged 5 - cheap at twice this price. Great service from an experienced bike mechanic.
Arrived at the shop to purchase accessories for my sons bike, thinking it's good to support local business. Was greeted by a 'back in 5 minutes sign' (happened to be raining). When female shop keeper appears, no apology. I asked advice about the bike, was simply told it was put together wrong. Asked for stabilisers and one product was offered at a high price compared to others I had seen online. Asked if it was ok to put them on in store just in case. But was told she was closing soon, the time was 4.20 pm.If you want service or advice go elsewhere.found the same item at half the price in smiths toy store of all places.
Martin was extremely helpful - my bike is in fairly sorry condition and I was really struggling on some hills. I also have a limited budget for repairs/upgrades, and he gave me some great advice and let me know how much everything would beIn the end, he regreased the front hub, replaced the front brakes, changed all the cables and realigned the rear derailleur for a total of 57. They also spotted some damage to the side wall of my front tyre that I hadn't seen.I dropped the bike off on Monday evening and had a call saying it was ready on the Wednesday.
About 10m off the Devon Coast 2 Coast path (NCN 27) in Tavistock so very convenient if you need some assistance as I did. Martin was very busy with a bike build but managed to find time to sort my problem out and have us on our way again. Friendly & knowledgeable, thoroughly recommended.
Great well stocked shop and service. Snapped a chain the other week and got a new one there. Today my Hollowtech crank was loose and they had the little crank install tool I needed to fix it.
